 Flank Steak Marinade

Ingredients:

1/3 cup olive oil

1/3 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Marinade:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and honey or brown sugar until well combined.

Add the minced garlic, Dijon mustard, black pepper, salt, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until all ingredients are well incorporated.

2. Marinate the Flank Steak:

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.

Pour the marinade over the steak, making sure it is evenly coated.

Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight. Turn the steak occasionally to ensure even marinating.

3. Cook the Flank Steak:

Remove the steak from the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.

Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

4. Serve:

Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain for the most tender bites.

Serve with your favorite sides, such as grilled vegetables, a fresh salad, or roasted potatoes.

Tips:

Marinating the steak for at least 8 hours will yield the best flavor.

If you don’t have a grill, you can also cook the steak in a hot skillet or broil it in the oven.

Leftover marinade should be discarded or boiled for at least 5 minutes if you want to use it as a sauce, to ensure any bacteria from the raw meat is killed.
