Ingredients:
• 1 cup moong dal (split green gram), soaked for 2-3 hours
• 1 medium onion, finely chopped
• 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
• 1-inch piece ginger, grated
• 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
• 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
• 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
• 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
• 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
• 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
• Salt to taste
• Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Preparing the Batter:
• Drain the soaked moong dal and grind it to a coarse paste without adding much water. The paste should be thick and slightly grainy.
• Transfer the ground moong dal paste to a mixing bowl.
2. Adding Spices and Vegetables:
• Add finely chopped onion, green chilies, grated ginger, minced garlic, and chopped coriander leaves to the moong dal paste.
• Add turmeric powder, cumin seeds, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Mix everything well to form a dough-like mixture.
3. Shaping the Nuggets:
• Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small nuggets or patties.
4. Frying:
• Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the nuggets into the oil.
• Fry the nuggets in batches, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
• Remove the fried nuggets with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
5. Serving:
• Serve the hot moong dal nuggets with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce.
